Jack Nickolson, Robert de Niro, Kevin Spacey, and several others - IMO, they are enough to make even a movie with awful script and/or direction at least average. And if the script doesn't simply suck, it's bound to be a good movie.

Wait a second. It seems people are putting down favorite actors rather than those who actually make good movies. Most of Walken's movies have been crap (probably more than half). I think he's an awesome actor, and will see him in almost anything, but he makes crap more often than not. I could say the same for Robert De Niro and Nicholas Cage. I don't even trust Jack Nicholson to make good movies anymore.
Those I TRUST to make good movies:
Chris Cooper
Daniel Day-Lewis
William H. Macy
Liam Neeson
Alec Baldwin
John Cusack
Denzel Washington
Ian McKellan
And it also seems actresses are severly unnoticed
Gwyneth Paltrow
Uma Thurman
Kate Winslet
Rachel Weisz
Dame Judy Dench
Cate Blanchett

William H. Macy

Kevin Spacey (first one to come to mind when I saw the title)
Denzel Washington
Benicio del Toro
Robert de Niro
Jack Nicholson, though I'm not much of a fan of his recent chick flick binge
Christopher Guest/Harry Shearer/Michael McKean & co.

Adagio: you have absoluteley crap taste when it comes to movies (and actors)
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus
