Recently, Bush began to constantly spew out the label "liberal" like nobody's business, when he has been talking about Kerry.
I resent the way Bush and others use the word "liberal" to tar others because there is NOTHING wrong with the principle of liberalism. Just as there is nothing wrong with the principle of conservatism.
They are both ideologies that adhere to fundamental, basic principles. It is only when you have extreme conservatives and extreme liberals running for president, that one should be concerned. Extremism of any ideology is never a good thing.
Having said that, I believe that Bush is closer to extreme conservatism than Kerry is to extreme liberalism. Bush has a stronger tie to the religious right than other past Republican presidents, for starters. So maybe Bush is trying to use this "liberalism is inherently bad" hyperbole to distract people from Bush's connection with more extreme conservative groups??
I am not ashamed of being liberal, but rather, proud, and I will be damned if the word "liberal" becomes the shameful, unspoken "L" word.
