I hope you're not serious in calling these guys mathematicians. They just happen to use math, like virtually every scientist.

The article cited Tazmania as an example to shoot down critics who point to isolated peoples, but that invasion (1600?) was made possible by large sailing ships, knowledge, maps, troops, etc.
You're misunderstanding what they're saying. They cited Tazmania as an example of an "isolated" people where virtually everyone has non-Tazmanian ancestry.
And how do you think people got to Tazmania in the first place, without fancy technical knowledge?

"Who's your Daddy? You know who your Daddy is, huh?? It's me! Yeah.. I'm your Daddy! Uh-huh! How come I'm your Daddy! 'Coz I did this to your Mama? Yeah, your Mama! Yeah this your Mama! Your Mama! You suck man, but your Mama's sweet! You suck, but your Mama, ohhh... Uh-huh, your Mama! Far out man, you do suck, but not as good as your Mama! So what's it gonna be? Spit or swallow, sissy boy?" - Superfly, joecartoon
Of course anthropology is the subject, but an assertion about humanity's past is being made based on a mathematical model, not anthropological evidence. They don't know where this person lived, they speculate. They don't know if this common ancestor's genes show up in us, they say it's "mathematically" possible. This is like mathematically predicting the weather, works some times, some times not - need further input... Hell, they have a lot less information than weather forecasters...

And I explained why, better transportation and information allowed invaders to occupy the land. This happened to them, using Tazmania as "proof" all the other isolated peoples were supplanted is illogical. Do they claim every aborigine is a mix too? With 400 years and albeit an unknown source population, it's possible given the scope of the invasion. But this doesn't hold up for groups who are even more out of the way, some of whom we don't even know about yet.
And how do you think people got to Tazmania in the first place, without fancy technical knowledge?
They lucked out, how does anyone drifting off into the unknown get someplace? The aborigines got to Australia ~60,000 years ago, they sure didn't get there with 16th century sailing ships, maps, troops, etc. or they might have been moving into Europe millennia ago. I wouldn't compare the occasional boatload of people from Australia to the Age of Exploration and it's impact on the world.

Thats like saying someone writting a report is doing litterature, or someone hammering a nail is doing engineering...
These people are not doing mathematician's work.
Let me see, MIT guys develop a computer program to simulate the alleged expansion of one lineage and they don't have a mathematician on board for the project?
