another thing, if americans realized that a 40 oz bottle of malt liquor was 2.49 then they would drink more of it. ounce for ounce its a great deal

Yeah... right...
In many of the cases, it's a matter of being affordable.
Given a choice of nursing a few expensive beers throughout the night, or pounding down a bunch of cheep beers, the choice is easy.
Yeah, like in all countries, you will some "cheap" people in the US... but overall, the average American isn't "cheap." We live to consume
ming, explain why walmart is so succesful. cheap crap, on sale!

Is it any good? Here at the store we got 7 pallets of the 12pk variety packs and are selling them for $4.99 retail with a $2 rebate. Are they worth picking up?
Beer, however, is mostly a poor man's drink. The vast majority of beer that I ring up at the store is Budweiser, Coors, Natural Ice, Utica Club, Milwaukee's Best, Miller, Labatt and all the various forms of Genesse all the low-carb stuff like Aspen Extreme (Coors) and Michelob Ultra.
While I'm on the topic, I think low-carb beer tastes like ass. The Michelob people, however, were brilliant in bringing Mich Ultra to the mass market as the low-carb craze began to pick up steam. Coors and Labatt have only recently answered back with Aspen Extreme and the Labatt low calorie stuff. At this rate, I'm guessing all the major breweries will manage to froment all the flavor out of their beers within 10 years...
I personally don't drink Sam because it's too bitter and never quite sits right on my taste buds. It's getting to the point where it's at least mass market in the Northeast. I do give them credit for marketing themselves as a halfway between micros and macros, with the regular Lagers and Sam Lite along with more specialized stuff like seasonals, Hefeweizens, Cherry Wheat, Amber Bock and a couple of others. They're also into the "Collectable Beers" with stuff like (IIRC) the Millenium which is around 20% alchol by volume and retail originally for $250 a bottle. They also do stuff like a Chocolate Bock that is sold in a 750ml wine bottle for $14 that supposedly tastes awful. I guess they're trying to cover all their bases.
if americans realized that a 40 oz bottle of malt liquor was 2.49
College students are starting to get back into that kind of Malt Liquor from what I see, but right now it's pretty much regarded as a "Black" drink or extremely low class.
If you look around and think everyone else is an *******, you're the *******.
Sleemans is by far the best "factory" brew Canada has on offer. Molson, Labatt's and Kokanee are all higher alcohol content versions of American style lowest common denominator beer. As in the States, the best Canadian beer is micro-brewed (although some of the "micro" breweries are quite big these days).

I'd rather drink bud than malt liquor. malt liquor is nasty.
im a college student at the forefront of the 40 oz revival. two of these and youre done. its really not that bad until you get to the bottom 10%.
Personally i like to freeze them until ice starts forming. that really helps it go down. youll be ****faced in no time.
i turn 21 in 4 months 10 days

Affordable... and cheap are two different things.
Trying raising a family of four on a small budget, and walmart is all some can afford.
And while some of the stuff they sell is crap, they also sell many of the same national brands that aren't crap at a lower price than most every other outlet because of their buying power.
You can point to walmart, and I will point to places like Bloomingdales and other high end retailers... where you can buy stuff at a higher price than you can get it else where... but people go for the service and the feel of the place.
Or I take a look at "American Dolls" now a fixture for girls growing up. If Americans were "cheap"... this wouldn't be an institution now
American dolls... holy crap ming. I actually went to the one in peoria and i was shocked, shocked i tell you.
i guess youre right in a way. people like mass consumption on the cheap
