It's a little odd that a candidate still has to define himself this late in the game.

No it's not. This is how it always works.

That's why there are convention bounces for challengers in the first place.

He already has, unfortunately this "American Gigilo" image of marrying old women for their money doesn't seem to be working as well as they planned.

Conventions were so much more interesting when they actually mattered for more than a temporary boost in ratings.

I wonder if there are any conservative demonstrators..how comes conservatives really never make use of the protest, one of the most effecitve tools of democracy?

Yeah, I'm gonna watch it. Should be the funniest reality show of the season!!!

I hear they wanted to call it Big Caucus... but Kerry couldn't stop laughing, and it made his wife blush.
Marching orders from Kerry campaign is to reign in the Bush bashing for the convention. We'll see how much discipline the Party faithful will have. It will be a test of Kerry leadership.

Ramo is correct there will likely be very little bounce as the amount of undecideds appear to be rather small for this season.

Wrt protestors, interesting that the area for the protestors appears to be akin to a prison camp with chain link fences and razor wire.

The GOP will have protestors in Boston the last I heard. I think Republicans are coming to the realization that protesting works wonders and are using it more often.

Wow, it only took more than 40 years for them to get it- and with all those ties to the one group of conservative demonstrators I forgot about, the pro-life people, you would think they would be more active.

That week in NYC will be very interesting....

Well it isn't like the public view of the protestor was a good one. The protestor was seen as the hippy or radical who wanted to question authority. Conservatives, traditionally, even under Democrat Presidents aren't ones to question authority. It is only recently that Republicans have become more radical/reactionary.

                  I 'm listening to Clinton's speech from '92 (I hadn't heard it before), and it's suprisingly good.

Yeah, I guess it could be a good thing and a bad thing.

Although, I preferred it when the Democrats had a monopoly on all the whackos. Mind you they still have the bulk of them.

Well, we were perfectly happy to start out with "I ain't Bush" - but a few folks decided they wanted a tad more.
