Or maybe jump a dozen cars and throught a hoop of fire while simultaneously skeet shooting, just to enforce the support of all southern demographics.....

So he chose a vapid moron that brings nothing of substance to help the ticket? I can tell he's really trying to win the election now.

Choosing a vapid moran didn't hurt Bush 1 in 1988.

Newsflash: They were ALL vapid morons. But Edwards is a vapid moron who looks like one of the beach boys, and he seems to be a charming little bugger too. The man was born to be vice-president.

Edwards doesn't even make a state competitive John. Perhaps you could explain what a man who lost to a seneator from Mass on his home turf brings to the table.

He won his South Carolina, IIRC. The only state he did though.

Ditto. Put a dullard on the ticket... that'll really sway voters in this close election!

Bush 1 also won by much more that either candidate will. In a close election, a solid Veep pick counts greatly.

But unlike you said, he didn't lose to a senator from Mass on his home turf. He's a much better choice than Gephardt, although Richardson or Graham could have made him more competative in the South.

He did. His home turf is NORTH Carolina, not South Caroline.

The thing is the opposition's VP is also a major, I would say even bigger liability to the first name on the ticket. I mean, Cheney will crush Edwards intellectually in any debate, but he comes of as a nastier crueler scrooge compared to Edwards prettyboy image. And in an age of TV and sound bites, prettyboy wins the image game.
