Nobody is talking about Chinese internal history. It's like saying that our annexation of Hawaii is internal history -- we annexed an independent country with which we shared strong ties. Same with China and Tibet.

The only difference is that we don't engage in a policy of terror, ethnic cleansing and political repression in Hawaii.

China annexed Tibet because if they didn't, India would have.

Only since? I seem to recall that Latin and South America were in our sphere of influence since before the turn of the last century.

GASP! You mean trying to undermine one of the world's last totalitarian regimes upsets some liberals? Who would have thought?

This of course is the ONLY reason for the US stance toward Cuba. If the US corporations got their land back, the US would normalize relations in a minute. Nothing else Cuba does truly matters, regardless of the lip-service the US government gives to "free elections" and "human rights" and such.

Why do we pick on Cuba? Well because Castro is still there. If he goes, then there is no reason to pick on Cuba anymore. Afterall, Castro jails and executes his political opposition frequently. But then again that goes in one ear out the other of a typical leftist.

Everyone except the former Soviet Union and China of the last few decades was/is a little guy to the USA.

Cause Bush thinks excluding black votes won't be enough by itself to win Florida. Though this one might be one expansion of a 40 year failed policy too far- I think it will anger more people than it will please, and might hurt him among younger cuban exiles that actually still have family and Cuba and want to help them.

It has nothing (or very little) to do with Bush (thats not to say that Bush doesnt benefit from the status quo). Anti-Cuban sentiment runs throughout the congress on both sides of the aisle. There is nothing anyone can do to normalize relations with Cuba until Castro dies.
