For the record, I have the same goal as Shi, but think a reintegration is the best way to accomplish it. Granted, in 1960, who knew Castro was going to have the lifespan of Dick Clark? The isolation approach has run its course and failed, though, and it's time to try something new. That can't be done as long as an incumbent is reliant upon Cuban votes to help deliver the state.
This is true, the city of Miami should be named New Havana.

Also, Cuba is a socialist country. We don't want them to be rich, otherwise people might think csocialism works and adopt socialism as a model. Thus the embargo.

I don't see a reason how Tiananmen was worse than Waco. We have no evidence how many people were killed in either case and both goverments are officially representing that it never happened.

On-topic, the only reason that I've known so far for the US' anti-Cuba attitude is:
Also, Cuba is a socialist country. We don't want them to be rich, otherwise people might think csocialism works and adopt socialism as a model. Thus the embargo.
If anyone knows any real reasons (DD, I'm looking at you), feel free to enlighten me.

Where did you get THAT from?????

Tianammen was a bunch of students peacefully protesting.

Waco was a bunch of belligerent wackos who were being served arrest warrants because of all those "harmless" firearms and explosives they refused to give up.

There is no question the government leadership on the scene screwed up, but the Davidians inside started the fire that eventually killed everyone inside the compound.

80 people were killed along with 22 children and there was a huge Congressional hearing along with several followup investigative reports on it.

Waco was an opperation FUBARed from the begining. Tiananmen largely went down the way the Chinese wanted.

I'm pretty sure Chinese officials find their own way of presenting this interpretetation their way around.

When it comes down to international politics between US and a random hostile nation, I have a history (=one case) of completely misunderstanding the actual situation and meanings of different events when talking with you. Just trying to cover my back, that's all.
