Advice about fighting isn't going to help you nearly as much as some time in a hands on dojo. Ju jitsu, judo or one of the mixed martial arts styles will pay the most immediate dividends.

Also if you want to go to a gym, go right now because this stuff you learn in there, you have to do that for a while before it becomes like your second nature. It doesn't help if you have to think 'what was I supposed to do here', you have to get the feeling into it so you know instantly what to do. So go NOW.

But I wouldn't want to set you off too much. IF it happens, ti's likely to be a regular brawl, and you will all be fine afterwards.

Besides, I'll be in your corner, so you have nothing to worry about anyway.

Drunks are hard to fight. They can't aim and have no coordination, but they make it up by not feeling pain. That neutralises most of your moves, like punches and kicks. You don't want to trade blows with a drunk. You lose.

Since you said everyone knows everyone all you need is a reputation. You can earn it the way KrazyHorse proposed, but that is crazy enough to earn you nationwide admiration, so you can probably get away with something less drastic.

Fighting is not the only way to earn a reputation, remember that young Jedi.

I agree partially with UR. I don't agree that drunks don't feel pain and are hard to fight. I think it's the opposite.

However, you say this guy is a lot bigger than you. You don't want to go to the ground with him, so standing up with a bigger guy when you have no experience might not be a key to victory here. If we want to play it safe and sure, it's a bit risky. Plus the fact that there might be his friends... I advice you to stay away at least until you get your ass to somekind of place where they teach you to do this stuff. You want to learn striking. Kickboxing, anything.

however, you shouldn't think that you need to do that because this guy is calling you out.. I mean, if you don't like to go to the gym, it's fine. Odds are it won't help you much anyway if the confrontation is near.

You say he's calling you out. That means you have a choice. If you decide to meet this guy, do not let it happen on his grounds. He calls you out, you call the rules. Or at least part of them. Do not go and fight him alone if his friends are there. IT's understandable and doesn't make you any less of a man, it only makes you smart. No one expects in their right minds for you to do that. You don't have to be a martyr.

So what you need to do if you decide to make this happen is that you meet on neutral grounds, or your grounds. That means if he brings friends, you bring friends. If you go at it, you go at a place that is neutral or benefits you. You don't go to their block to do it. Simple. If his friends attacks you, your friends protects you, and at least it'll be fair in some sense.

But what ever you do, don't get hot headed and accept a fight with is rules. And most importantly this is because.. there really are no rules, so you can't trust them. So you just make sure you have equalisers with you.

And if they don't agree to the terms, then say it's off and you don't want to fight them because they're pussies anyway wanting it to happen on their terms. You're smaller anyway and to my knowledhge didn't do anything to make this happen, so it's them who are the losers. BUt if they do agree to YOUR carefully thought terms, then you can't back down anymore, so make sure youj make good terms and hold on to them. After all, they're getting ALL the benefits here..

.. and if you can avoid the whole situation, just do that. If you can avoid fighting this man, please do that. I don't believe this could cost you any huge problems, but you never know plus it only gains you little when it can cost you more. You're not a sissy for njot taking the fight, because the guy is bigger and if he don't agree to YOUR terms, he's the sissy.

But this situation is at the point, where he won't back out because he's been yelling at you in front of his friends. This means he wants to show his friends he won't back down.

The only way for this not to happen is to be very smart and figuring otu a way that lets both you and him back out of this without any loss of face and that it would be like victory for both and both can brag about it. But it can't be obvious. Just like Rooskies took off from Cuba.

Use what weapons you have at your disposal. Since you aren't drunk, your head is gonna be sharper. If someone tries to start something with you, try telling some jokes, not targetted at him, just try making him laugh. Once you get him laughing, he's not likely to want to fight you.

That's what saves your ass most of the time: your opponent is a huge ****ing dumbass.

And like I said: don't fight if you don't have to.

But if you do, keep your guard up, your head up, your eyes open and your punches quick. When you have the chance you throw the big punch (straight from the shoulder, put your hip into it)


Drake: the hip toss I'm talking about is where you wrap your arm around the guy's neck, push your hip into his gut and throw.

That's an example of a clean, picture-perfect hip toss. In a fight you:

a) don't want to go down with the guy unless you're confident of your ability to control him (ground and pound)

b) don't want to turn your back fully to the guy. just drive your hip into his body, get a lock on his neck and do a sloppy toss to the side instead of directly over your hip. It's much faster, and unless the guy knows what he's doing it won't make a difference.

Well maybe that's not the best advise, sorry. Generally I find it much easier giving advise to big guys out to beat up little guys. At least that way my advise is less likely to get them killed. Unfortunately if you don't have some real training much of the help you've been given is going to either get you beat up or thrown in jail for shooting some *******.

Not worth it.
