It depends on anybody's tastes. Whatever would make anyone happy is within their own realm.
But I'd still like to point out there is a big difference between being childlike and CHILDISH.

I think it is healthy to pretend play. I assume everyone has done it through their childhood as it is necessary for children to be able to identify roles and attaining social skills.

There are parents that are overly worried about their boys fluctuating to the "other side" and forbid dolls. I think it is just a matter of guidance.

And no, my son doesn't play with my dolls.

          • AS, at your age, I was in many ways similiar to you. When I realized and truly accepted that girls don't want to be placed on a pedestal and they can smell desperation a mile away, that was when I started getting girls. You also don't need the most fashionable clothes, cologne, smooth lines, or whatever. Just be yourself (minus the desperation and silly notions you may have about love, romance, and so on), and someone will take an interest in you. Of course, having good hygienic habits help. And here's a shocker - you don't even have to be movie-star/model handsome. Most of the time girls want a real human being.

Anyway, like they say about horse and water...

LTEC - Tequila ice cream? Perhaps homemade by any chance? That does sound like something I'd like to taste. Perhaps I'll experiment someday after I've completely settled into my new place.

            • Not homemade. I wouldn't know how to make it...

Tepoznieves is the name of the place that manufactures it. I believe there are a couple ice cream makers that market tequila ice cream as well.

Tell me the irony was intended. Please.

I've never felt able to control who I am, so I tend to assume whomever I'm being is myself. It doesn't seem to get me alot of girls.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

                    • Isn't Barinthus addressing Speer with that comment?

                      Comment

                      • He is. I don't see how that lessens the irony of telling someone to be himself, except for his major characteristica in the field we're discussing.

The second part was just a tangential personal admission.

                        • However, the way that I read Speer's comments is that he is not being himself, he's being the sort of guy that he thinks girls like.

                            • The I'm going out of my way to be nice so you'll like me...is an ACT and most girls will figure it out quickly enough.

When someone has approached me in that manner I can only wonder what the person is -really- like once the act is over.

                              • JohnT's right but I suppose you could say that it could apply to people in general. What can I really say? Life can be cruel. *shrug* Doesn't mean you have to contribute to the situation.

There are some things about yourself you can change, and there are some that you probably can't. My only real advice is to take a hard look at yourself and if you want to do something about yourself, do it. When I was 18, I had a very thin skin and ultra sensitive. I decided I didn't want to be like that anymore so I... changed. The result: people find me more likable.

LTEC, I got a question. I'm sure there're plenty of American tourists visiting northwestern Mexico. I know I was one of them . What's the most annoying thing about them and what they do? Perhaps a piece of advice for them?
