Saw From Dusk to Dawn last night. The first half was superb, the second half was a second-rate Buffy episode, but with more continuity and logic errors than ever filled the entire Buffy run. Tarantino did a pretty good acting job as the creepy Richie Gecko and it was kind of a shame to see him die as soon as he did as his was the only interesting character in the movie.
Juliette Lewis was OK, but I don't really believe that her character would've come out of that situation with the sort of attitude she had... it was something like "Oh, well, my family's dead. What am I gonna do now? Maybe the crazed thief who took us hostage and got us into a situation where I had to kill my own brother and watched my father turn into a vampire will allow me to tag along as he continues to run from the law. Lets ask him."
Nice closing shot, though.

Natural Born Killers. Wow. That was... rather boring. I saw the Directors Cut, so I did see the movie that Oliver Stone wanted to make, but it was just a huge blob, two stories squeezed into one. Luckily Tommy Lee Jones enters the movie about halfway through, giving a hilarious performance as a prison warden who is about to have the worst (and last) day of his life.
But... the style was a mess, the script was a mess, the message was a mess, the movie was a mess. See it if you like Oliver Stone or manufactured controversies, otherwise I wouldn't bother.
Our film discussion group a year ago debated whether to do this movie... I'm very glad we decided upon JFK, a far, far better film.
