Wow, you are one of the most virulent homers I have ever seen.

At BEST, that freeze-frame (which I have seen many a time, don't you worry) gives the puck a 50/50 chance of being in. All other angles say 'no'. The puck could have been in the air, if you watch how it's moving beforehand, thus creating an illusion of depth perception.

The referee did not stop the play, it went on for a while after that. You cannot expect the league officials to call that a goal when they have, at best, a 33% chance (that's 1 of 3 camer angles) of being correct in that assumption... ESPECIALLY when the on-ice officials don't stop the play, let alone call it a goal.

Please, stop pissing on your team's accomplishment by being so petty.

Oh yes, another example of why I love him.

Did you see him this game intentionally lay down on the puck and sprawl out to delay the game when the puck was in their end? If that's not a delay of game penalty, it sure as hell should be.

Yes, that's exactly what I was referring to. It's called sacrificing your body to kill a penalty, and it's part of what made Andreychuk so valuable to his team.

The other angles couldn't see the puck, that's not saying "no".

And please explain to me where you get the 50/50 bull****. To do so:
          1) Show me how it is NOT on the ice, when it is clearly wedged under his pads/skate.
          2) Show me how it is NOT over the line, when there is clearly ice on both sides

The puck could have been in the air, if you watch how it's moving beforehand, thus creating an illusion of depth perception.
If the puck would've been in the air, it would be a perfect circle, not having parts of the goalie's pads on it. If it was in the air, it would've bounced off at the angle of reflection, and not laterally like the replays clearly show.

Please, stop pissing on your team's accomplishment by being so petty.
I've already said I'm proud of them, and they did accomplish a lot, but they were robbed. Plain and simple.

It's called being a cheap f*ck, especially when you're playing in a game with notoriously inept refs. As you may expect, though it was BLATANT and obvious to anyone watching, they didn't call a penalty on it.

            The reffing has been terrible.

            • I suggest we lay off Asher and let him cool off.

I know from personal experience ('94) how hard it is when your team comes so close and loses - with or without possible injustices.

              • I would feel much more sympathy if the phantom goal was to tie rather than take the lead. As it was, Calgary was still in position to take the cup in that game and could have played much better in this one.

Calgary, join the list of teams who could have clinched a series but lost the game to a screwball play and couldn't put it back together for the final.

                2004 Flames

God Cherry said it wasn't a goal, if only because 5 minutes later is no way to award a goal for the Cup, and I have to agree with him. But Calgary still got robbed.

                      • Gelinas should have knocked the net off. Assuming he knew it went in and had the presence of mind to stop play.

                        • a) Andreychuck is a **** for lying on the puck and should have been called on it

                          b) The penalty against the Flames with 1:20 or so left was bull****

                          c) So was the following penalty against the Lightning

                          d) The Lightning played better than the Flames tonight

                          e) That was not the case on Saturday

                            • Wow...its a good time to be a Tampa Bay fan, what with a first Superbowl win a few years ago and now a first Stanley cup win.

Could Tampa Bay become as much of a sports town as Boston, New York, or Chicago?
