  • Inmate apparently is the tag you get if you spring for the lifetime membership ($140, plus or minus a few bucks depending on your registration date). Supporter is for those who just sign up for a few months.

At least that's what my understanding is based on the stuff in the community forum.

            • My life-time upgradable copy of Musicmatch Jukebox (an excellent MP3 ripper and player) cost me 19.90 $ IIRC. Why should a membership on a forum with no employees cost 7 times more?

                3) life-time upgrades for an mp3 software? do you really expect to keep using it after more than 1 year? we're quickly going for our decade anniversary

I understand your point. Still, you have no employees (afaik), as most admins on Apolyton do it just for fun. The MP3 software developer probably has dozens of paid employees.

While your host server needs capability for thousands of visits per hour, I don't think MusicMatch.com comes far behind in that sense. Also see 1) above

I purchased my MP3 software licence in '99. Downloaded the latest upgrade one week ago. It has improved a lot since '99, and I bet it will continue to do so in the future.

What other features were you planning to add? I am debating whether to buy it or not.

                      • I'm in the same boat as NM. Give me enough PLUS functions (an bigger PM box, bigger avatars, and no ads is ) and I'm in. If the PLUS forums are +1 even better . Seriously though I'd like to see more for the price (I'm looking into the lifetime membership). Perhaps priority when the server is overcrowded, longer signatures, extra exclusive smilies, and perhaps a private @apolyton.net email address?

                            • I don't think I would ever be interested in paying for any additional goodies on Apolyton.

                              • I'd love to support, but the added features are not useful to me. Ads are a part of life, annoying but ultimately no big deal. 20% dimensional increase in avatar is nice but no big deal. I'm not a big PM user, and don't need file hosting. Considering the cost of hosting and the amount of server load this site represents, the procign structure is reasonable.
