Same as everyone else. The difference? The RCC has apologized for it's FUBARs.

Russian communism is essentially a social experiment that went wrong. Right now it is easy to say how wrong it was. Back in 1917 it was not obvious and communist ideas had some substantial support from people around the world. Heck, judging by Apolyton it has not completely lost its appeal even now.

There is a big difference between a regime that built up its ideology around hatred of "lesser" nations and a regime that tried to achieve brotherhood and equality for everyone.

An example with Christianity just shows that people possesed by some sort of messianic zeal often end up doing terrible things.
If these so-called Communists could see that the Hammer & Sickle and other symbols of the USSR are just as anti-semitic/racist/evil as a Waffen SS recruitment poster, I would have no real objection.

And I realize symbols have different meanings to each individual.

Only because they are ripping off others.

Besides, you should know better than to use the tired old "human nature" argument. Communal living was the norm over most of the history of our species - if anything is natural it is that.

And any student of Marx could tell you that what counts as "human nature" at any one time is largely a social construct.

Save the bad arguments for somewhere else.

Hell no. I am no nazi. In fact I'm very happy the Nazis were defeated. My avatar is gone. Happy people? Now shut up about this whole thing and lets get back to the topic.

            • It has something to do with society too Verto. Waving a Swastika or SS poster is worse than popping out your *** at the Super Bowl. But waving a Hammer+Sickle or attending a Communist demosntrations is n't that badl .

                • Who should apologize Lonestar? CPSU was outlawed in 1991.
And apologize to whom? CPSU under Stalin mostly slaughtered population of its own country.

One of his drawbacks is that he is damn too gentle and indecisive.

No, because now you're trying to hide the problem. If you don't admit that it exists, you can only make it worse.

Wrong. The press is still pretty much free. It is the free TV that he was shutting down.

On the other hand, TV as a blackmail tool in the hands of shameless oligarchs (as it was before) can hardly be considered 'free' either. I guess Russia has not yet had enough time to reach an American-style "understanding" between privately owned TV channels and the government.
