Modesty, while nice in a friend, is also dishonesty in many cases. Sky is obviously bright, very bright, especially for his age. He doesn't need to be told that, he'll know from conversing with peopel (both awe and frustration), from school, from tests, etc. He's probably pretty true with what he says.

It seems there are some very gifted students here. Enigma, JW, Sky and many others who regularly post here who are young and years ahead of their peers.

But he would think of something

I'm pretty sure that most Apolytoners felt similarly at your age. You'll get over it eventually.

The point of this was that I feel that I can talk at the same level as intelligent adults, who happen to make up the vast majority of this site. If you instead think I'm below you, that's nice. Goodbye.

I'd also like to point out that, as I mentioned, there are a lot of people here who I hold in very high esteem and consider role models, and who I think are above me.

I never realized you were younger than skywalker and I.

My beliefs are still quite malleable - in fact, Apolyton has proven that true. I'm a very different person from the skywalker that posted a little speech he was very proud of in every single forum on 9/11.

OTOH, I'm an adult. For the most part, I converse with adults at or above their level. I'm far superior to the average adolescent when it comes to things like critical thinking, and better than many adults (though the adults here are in general above average). I have for the most part a much better perspective on life than people my age - I see things the way an adult would, not a kid. I'm unaffected by peer pressure, I can see the long term, and I understand generally how important something really is and really will be twenty years from now. In some ways I'm much more mature than them, though in others less (I'm ADHD, so I'm also prone to impulsive behavior). Basically, I don't see immediate gratification as the ultimate goal.

I like Apolyton because I feel I can fit here - not by having my views agreed with by everyone, but because I can talk with you on my own level. I can talk with a lot of my friends this way, too, because of the school I go to and the friend I have, but there aren't enough of them really interested in things like politics to have a good discussions.

What I realize, though, is that I also like Apolyton is that there are people here who I can talk with, but who are definately NOT my peers in any sense - they know more, are far more experienced, and just generally make me want to emulate them. Apolyton hasn't just provided a group of friends, but role models. My dad, I can talk with - in fact, in some ways I'm better at math than he is. But it's similar with him - I look up to him, I don't just see him at my level.
                  Clearly your wrong.

Don't feel as though you have to defend yourself from folks who are makin' digs tho. I don't know of too many people your age who even give the matter much thought (heck, come to think of it, a fair number of the people MY age don't give the matter much thought!) That you do, puts you comfortably ahead of the pack.

Personally, I really don't think age has any significance at all. I don't think it's at all unusual to converse at the same level with adults when you are agewise a kid. In fact, I think it's a mistake for adults to assume that kids must be mentally different, if not strictly inferior. That said, the vast majority of people near my age that I have any sort of acquaintance with are, to put it nicely, not especially bright. Nor, for that matter, are the majority of adults. OK, now I'm just rambling on and probably being elitist, but I really do think that the vast majority of at least Americans and I would assume everyone in the world is really not very intelligent.

See? Now you're ignoring my posting record and saying I think of people as "below me".
