    • I read exactly what the admins told me to read to them and they showed me a pic and confirmed it was my board. If not... I'm gonna cry.

      • at all this.
Seriously thought, I hope everything goes well or this will be some wierd "free" "upgrade".
First of all, we are talking about the K7T266pro2(-RU) MS-6380 V2 and NOT any of the other boards like the K7T266pro or the K7T266pro2-A series!!!
Let's hope it's the right mobo.

          • YES IT ****ING WORKED... UN-****ING-BELIEVABLE...

I'm now at 1.47Ghz, and Windows XP actually recognizes my processor as an Athlon XP 1700+

I remounted my processor fan, and used thermal paste. It's now running at 41-43Celsius. I did that mod (I WAS SCARED AS ****) and despite it being terribly frustrating (the condensonator was 2mm x 1mm), I pulled it out without damaging anything!

I wish to thank all of you who helped me out. You pointed me in the right direction and now I am utilizing my processor to it's potential (although I could overclock, but I'm leaving it as is).

            THANK YOU

Um, that sucker is rated at 350W. Okay, so that rating isn't carved in stone, but still.

They are much nicer (abeit a bit more expensive) than Enermax or Antec ones for instance.
Nothing wrong with Enermax or Antec ones. They are quite heavy duty.

Wattage ratings are maximum ratings, at room temperature. The higher the temp, the lower the rating. Better components and better heat sinks (in the PSU) mean better tolerance to this effect.

Voltages are never always exact coming off a PSU. Enermax and Antec have 5% tolerance for voltage fluctuation (and I've seen 2 bad units in 6.) PP&C has 1% tolerance (and I've had no bad units in 4.) Not enough to be stastically important, but anecdotally enough to convince me to buy PP&C instead... not least because its supporting the national economy.

The only time I've ever seen perfect power delivery was a Compaq in a data center, running off a APC Symettra, powered by a 20 ton Liebert. That thing never deviated from 12v and 5v, according to the SNMP log.
