  • What's wrong with circle-jerking anyway? ... er, I mean
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
    - John 13:34-35 (NRSV)

    • Are people taking this award and voting seriously?

Give my other two nominations to Ned and Fez.

          • Too "sophomore in college getting first taste of independence and smoked too much before coming to class and is starting to reshape world view based on limited amount of new knowledge" annoying.

            MtG
            Real Boris
            Spiffor

The third spot was a tossup between Spiff, GePap, Sikander, DanS, and others I couldn't be arsed to really think about.

            Honorable mentions:

            Che: smart, vaguely reasonable commie.

DinoDoc: manages selective quibbling without actually being drawn into the debate. He's found his niche, it seems.

Ben Kenobi: holds christian fundy views that are difficult to defend, especially here at 'poly, yet most of the time manages to be worthy of reply, and does so without flaming and such. This sets him apart from other fundy posters we've had.

Oerdin: US military psyops meets Apolyton. Manages not to be widely hated, so he's doing something right.

            Ok, enough.

When it's more concsiely summed up by saying:

If you want to find the best debater, set up a topic and have people debate and let everyone vote on the winner. If you want a popularity contest, you set up a thread like this...

I don't take it much seriously. It's mainly a popularity contest, with few serious considerations as a bonus.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

                        • MtG ain't a good debater anyway. His response ALWAYS begin with "I am an expert in this field so I am right and you wrong"

I think he is good to have on your side in a debate, but a good debater is someone who can either make you think about your stance or prove you wrong... Ned, Che, and Sava are my nominations, even though I never agree with Che, rarely agree with Sava, and almost always agree with Ned.

He usually backs up what he says if called out, so by proving himself right= proving you wrong then I think that counts.

OTOH, once he starts the debates usually don't get past a couple more posts (unless the other poster is in denial), just a quick pwning.
