Or why did God allow Lucifier's rebellion to occur if he's omniscient?

Why doesn't god strike us down when we start doing a bunch of evil actions?

It's a nessecary component of free will to be able to do evil things.

seriously... how good a story would it be if it was all goodness and light and no villain?

Satan as per hellfire, demons, imps and damnation was invented in the Middle Ages, to act as a fear motivator for the church's benefit.

The story has gone through a number of rewrites... like any script, for example.

He didn't have any problem negating the "free will" going on in Sodom and Gommorah... or various other places from time to time.

Well, in terms of overturning the created order and destroying God, he can't win, no. He can however seperate himself from God and his created order and go into the spiritual darkness of Hell, as we have the same choice.
