I still dont get the attraction to the "goth" look, and to an even lesser extent why that look is named after a ancient civilization that walked around in bear skins toating swords and spears.

I think it is rather named after the "gothic" architecture of cathedrals, i.e the standard architecture during the middle ages, at the epitome of Christian mythology, in which current-day goths are interested.

The invention of hell as a pit of flames, and basically all the mythology we have about Christian hell dates back from this period. Add to this that "goth" still resonates as being Barbarians that ruin Rome, and the association with the Dark Ages, and you have a pretty dark/despaired movement that calls itself "goth".

But I never said this new kind of romantism was any smart
