Nu-Rock band does a U-turn from it’s religionist roots!
i still can't get past the drum sounds. lars ulrich doesn't sound right with that poohfy kick drum and the high ringy snare. the drums are way too loud in the mix too.
they sound a bit better on the DVD. I'll be seeing them live about a month from now. We'll see how they sound. I figure they will sound like usual when played live. Like crap . But seriously, many times I have seen them live- they don't play in the best acoustics. Often it is in arenas with bad echos from metal ceilings.

Hoho!
Yet another humour-free poster.
Blame the band that slagged-off Lars and the boys, not me.
They had a go because of Metallica's whines about losing money to Napster and other bootleggers.
So none of you have ever made a copy of Metallica's music?
If the answer is yes, well, that is serious BS.

And I really hate it just because a band sells out, they can't listen to them. I judge music on its quality- not whether it goes with current trends.
And your point.
I listen to a band based on their quality and their respect for the fans.
Something Metallica has only recently began to rediscover.
St. Anger sounds too much like 2 and a half minute songs repeated until they breach the ten minute mark. The transitions between phrases are pretty poor. It's like they tried to use dynamic contrast but don't remember how to do it anymore, and that drum sound does get grating too. To not sound totally negative, I do appreciate that Lars went back to using double bass...
I've never abandoned a band because people say they have sold out. People ***** about Paradise Lost selling out but I like their new stuff better than their old stuff. What matters to me is the songwriting and musicianship. I may be a bit of a progressive snob, but I've got real reasons for liking the things I like and disliking the things I don't like.
I like a band on the quality of its sound. Yeah metal elitists are annoying, and no i'm not calling you one here curtsibling. Its also funny when they refer to their varied list that stretches from Cannibal Corpse to Cradle of Filth.
The only metallica album I ever liked is the Black one. But thats just cause other metallica doesn't interest me.
"So none of you have ever made a copy of Metallica's music?" I don't own any Metallica at all.
I stuck with Korn through Untouchables, when alot thought they had sold out with Issues, Issues is there best album IMO, Untouchables is good too.

"Hi, guys, we're Metallica. You may remember us from such songs as 'Master of Puppets,' 'One,' 'For Whom the Bell Tolls,' and 'Turn the Page,' just to name a few. I know we've been one of the best and longest-standing metal bands, but with this album, we really thought it was time to appeal to the nu-metal crowd, and thus experimenting with a style that does not fit us in the least. We really should have the crap beaten out of us for making such a bad album."
i can't get past the instrument sounds to be disgusted with the lyrics. just like that "staring down the barrel of a .45" song. that has got to be the most trite 6/8 melody i've heard. ever. and i've got all but the paper for a music theory degree.

One of the funniest things I've seen in ages. Thanks Potassium.
I like Evanescence, and I've never known they were a Christian group. I don't really care either.
Oh, and them being Nu-Rock? I don't see where that's coming from, but I s'pose everyone seems to want to add "nu" to everything
My Immortal's my fav too, had it on repeat for quite a while when i got the album
Smile For though he was master of the world, he was not quite sure what to do next
But he would think of something "Hm. I suppose I should get my waffle a santa hat." - Kuciwalker
