Shall one of us create a separate thread to discuss the legacy of Reagan to keep this as a birthday thread??
I believe we already had this discussion -- would you care to have it again?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Ex-presidents still are referred to as "Mr. President" in the U.S.

While part of me would like to believe Mr. Reagan's current state is part of some sort of divine justice, of course I know better. Still, I'd be happy to keep him around for years longer if we could send Pat Robertson and his ilk off in Ronnie's place.

He also gave the government a huge deficit, and was President during a decade that should make the world ashamed of itself.

But no, I'd never wish death on the guy.
Yeah, under that reasoning communists would be praising Ronald Reagan, not condemning him. Their loud and raucous condemnation indicates where they come out on the issue of cause-and-effect with respect to the fall of communism in East.

So u guys are saying that Limbaugh, Coulter, et al are communists? Interesting.

btw, I hate Reagan b/c he scared the crap out of us when we were younger. By 'we' I mean my entire school. We thought we'd get nuked b/c of this senile nutjob who was inhabiting the white house.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

No need to spare my feelings by using the "collective you" phrase. I know what I said and I said it. But here, let me quote Chegitz:

Communist countries kill their own, while imperialist countries tend to kill others.

Got a problem with these generalizations, go complain to him.

Wasn't alive then. I understand that we came a hell of a lot closer to nuke annilation in '62 than in the mid 80's, but it wasn't personally felt.

                          • Theban, you obviously were a victim of the left's scare mongering about Reagan.

Standing up to bullies is the surest way to get them to go away. Surely you know that.
