Paul Berman offers a different view on Iraq and leftism
Everyone who believes there is a "left" or "right" is criminally stupid.
Or just expedient, typing out every possible ideology (~280 million in this country alone?) and it's position on this or that would be "criminally" silly.

using left/right is acceptable when describing economic policies (state controlled ---- laissez faire)...
but it's not that hard to elaborate beyond "left" or "right" when describing people... for instance, Bush isn't "right" per se... he's a corporatist... right would indicate free market... but Bush proves he's not a free marketer based upon the massive subsidation and corporate welfare aimed at business.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

It's way to complicated to explain. So complicated that any attempt to describe it would be wrong.

For instance, your scale would put anarchists on the right and fascists on the left.
And corporatism is a right-wing ideology.

Hitler and Mussolini (and fascists in general) were corporatists, and most people would agree that they are on the far-right.

Your scale is still wrong.

well most people use a different scale...
it still makes no sense... Hitler was slightly right of center on economic policy... the oppressive and violent aspects of his regime have little to do with his domestic economic policy.
So where does a free tradist rate in comparision to say a corporatist? More right or more left?

more right... a true far-RIGHT would be like a libertarian economist. Corporatism has elements of state-subsidized business... which is inherently not free-market.
The thing about Bush is that he is corrupt and tends to favor political allies with "bribes", and not necessarily all corporations in general. Corporatism is the closest ideology to Bush's policies. He uses conservative movements as a vehicle.

They have everything to do with his domestic economic policy. How do you suppose Hitler responded to strikes or trade unionism? Why do you think commies were his main ideological enemies? The point is even better demonstrated by Mussolini.

Free-trade isn't a complete economic ideology. I'm for free-trade and on the far-left (being an anarcho-syndicalist).
