Sure but it gets you pretty mashed.

      I'm making the admittedly far-fetched assumption that Z isn't refering to marriage-wanna
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

You can certainly pluck the long stemmed sort and chew on the whitish bit at the end.

But I think the green blade takes a whole heap of digesting.

Cows do need seven stomaches, after all.

Oh, there's no way we could get any significant nutritional value -- not without a fully functioning appendix or "outside assistance", anyway.

There is a lot of silica in grass plants. If you eat enough it wears away your teeth. This actually happens to wild animals and they starve to death if something else doesn't eat them first.

Silica isn't the same as silicone.

But you could try it and let us know.

The below-ground stem of the grass blade has a sweet root. I would be surprised if there wasn't some nutritional value to humans in it

Digesting cellulose, of course, is the province of cows, not people.

I guess eating grass can alleviate the sense of hunger if you've got nothing else to eat.

It depends on what kind of grass we are talking about.

What would a fully functioning appendix do, then, MM?

Er, do I get to be the first to ask why he wants to know? I'm guessing Zylka's been marooned on Easter Island or something.

Dandelion leaves supposedly have some decent nutritional value for humans, BTW. They're a good survival food if you ever happen to wind up homeless in suburbia. Mix yourself a salad to go with your pigeon.
