I have finally gotten rid of the suspeceted files, I don't yet know if it worked. I was for some reason allowed to thrash them and empty the Thrash Bin just seconds before a system-prompted reboot, don't ask me why . I've rebooted for about the 35th time today, without my choice. I had some hours between 17 and 23 when everything worked fine (probably because I wasn't sitting by the computer), But after midnight, I rebooted at least 5 times..

That's what happen when the wrong svchost.exe process gets closed. You may have provoked it yourself, by closing processes in the ctrl+alt+del screen, or you may have the Blaster worm.

Look on the internet for tools removing the Blaster worm, from reliable sources such as Symantec or McAffee.
Besides, a simple way to postpone the reboot is to change your computer clock. Just say you're the 9th january instead of the 11th, and the bug won't make you restart until the next two days (note: the effects of changing your clock cancel once you shut down your comp: the clock remains changed, but you'll have to change it once again next time Blaster bothers you)

But one extremely annoying thing is that whenever I seem to ger close to the virus/worm, something chrashes.. AARRGGHH

You need Microsoft lastest patch for WinXP to prevent MsBlast to come back on your machine. If you're into legal terms, be aware such a patch will bring changes to your EULA.

Latest Windows patch for WinXP home (I don't know if it's the English only version or the international version)

Why do my system or my Antivirus program or whatever crash whenever I enter this topic? Seems like the worm has a fell for what I am doing? I spent a long time in other forums, but when I entered this thread, I got a message that the system wanted to reboot within 60 seconds.

Do you change our clock when it happens?

Don't be such a cheapskate. For the cost of an evening out, you can get Norton.

Anti-virus software isn't such a great protection at any rate. It doesn't shield against the newest ones, which happen to the the viruses that could unleash the greatest damage. Just be careful of what you open, use a different browser, and put up a firewall.

                          Ollie,

When something like that happens next time, go into msconfig and turn off all the suspicious looking programs. If that doesn't work, enter safe mode to delete all the offending files.
