  • Ephedrine to be banned soon

~150 people have allegedly died from ephedrine use over the past few years so the synthetic and herbal forms of the "drug" will be banned in early 2004. Ephedrine is apparently a weight loss drug similar to "speed" which might explain why it's quite effective.

Gee, how many people died from tobacco and alcohol over that same period?

How can these politicians and bureaucrats keep a straight face when they ban a product that may have been involved in the deaths of 150 people while other products remain legal with body counts in the millions?

Just tell us what is or is not harmful and why, but don't be telling us what we can or can't use damnit. ******* nanny statists!

You're talking about ephedra, correct? I thought ephedrine itself was already banned, but this could be it in the works.

If so - all this is about is making somewhat unavailable the key (and easiest) precurssor to crystal meth production. The death figure is a weak scare facade for the masses. Come on, surely YOU should then be able to see that?

Its Ephedra, a chinese herb that is 'speedy'. Ephedrine or pseudoephedrine is in virtually every cold remedy.

I agree though, it is bull****. Next on the list is coffee. No wait, the coffee people have a PAC.

It can also make you quite aggressive (or antsy) weightlifters take it to pump themselves up before a work out.

It also mixes well with alcohol (IMHO)

I'm not sure if ephedra is just the brand name for a natural (herbal) product that contains ephedrine or something different. Fox News said ban on ephedrine is pending but showed "Ephedra" when running the story and the ephedra looked like blue-green dried "noodles" in a plastic bag.

Lefty, what are you talking about?

                        You too, Tass!

Duh (both of you), he's playing on the title assuming it means a poster named 'Ephedrine' is 'to be banned soon'.
