You can only see if you like the movie after you begin watching it. There is only one exception I have - I don't intend to see Titanic, ever (And anything by Britney Spears either)

Woody Allen rocks. I like a lot of his stuff, though it is true that he has made a large number of contractual obligation formula comedies recently in order to be able to keep making more serious films that don't have the box office draw to otherwise justify their budgets.
I really like What's New Pussycat (just saw it again last year and its still got an amazing combination of Allen writing and acting, Peter Sellers and Peter O'Toole acting, and a collection of amazingly hot babes), Casino Royale (I just bought the DVD) Take the Money and Run and Bananas. These were his earliest films, and they are all pretty funny.
After these films Allen tends to be much more unpredictable. His films tend to be more serious in general, as well as autobiographical to some extent, which turns many people off completely and can be trying at times even for fans. Fortunately his skills as a director really improved during the 1970s, and he made a number of excellent films in the 1970s and 1980s. Certainly Manhattan has to be one of my all time favorites, while Hannah and Her Sisters, Stardust Memories, etc. were worthwhile as well.
Lately Allen has been in a bit of purgatory, as his films have dropped off in popularity even as his draw as a legendary director has given him access to acting talent of unprecedented quality in his career. He still managed to pull off Deconstructing Harry (which is gutwrenchingly funny to anyone who has ever been a bad boy and wonders what happens if you keep on doing it) and a number of other films that have varied in quality enormously.

I never got into Spike Lee or Woody Allen.
Really the only spike Lee I saw was do the right thing. That movie was touted as being so great. I found it rather mediocre.
Woody Allen. First he shouldn't star in his own films. It it implausible to see him with those women. And neoritic characters aren't great protagonists. We want to see strong leading characters. And he's really not funny.
maybe it's a New York thing. I like shows like Seinfeld though.
