    Jersey is looking really good.

How badly is your team sucking?
You have no idea how much I hate you right now.

Why is it that the freaking Flames have to start winning games like nobody's business at the EXACT SAME time the Oil start going in the tank? Where is the justice?

Every Canadian team is doing at least fairly well this year, EXCEPT the Oilers. Where is the justice?

We have allowed a Power Play goal in the last 13 games. Craig Simpsons is two whiskey shots away from hanging himself by his own belt in a seedy hotel room. WHERE is the JUSTICE?!?

But DON'T WORRY, kids! We're gonna turns things around; right the ship real good, you'll see. Yorkie's chugging along for us; Hemmer's gonna start realizing his potential, and by golly, we're going to start making progress on special teams!

The Cup will be ours yet, you'll see!

It's time for number six, baby!

Oh man... like 3ish years ago Flames were number 1 in the LEAGUE yet still didn't make the playoffs. Apparently with teams faced so far, we're in better spot this time. I was at their last playoff game like 7 (?) ****ing years ago and it was still amazing as ever to watch.. Iggy's first NHL goal too, IIRC

GO FLAMES!!! It's been too long $@#Y%^ @%$TR!

Last night's game of the Calgary vs Columbus had exceptionally poor refs, they gave Columbus like 15 PowerPlays in the game (a franchise record), and they still couldn't score on the powerplay. Actually, we got one short-handed goal.

But for the first 3 years the Calgary Flames played in the 6,000-capacity RoundUp Centre while the Saddledome was built.

Yeah, and the team was actually bought and ready to move, but then the NHL had to go and put a kibosh on it! Just because there's no way in hell Saskatoon could support and NHL team... Damn realistic bastards.

Wow. How did I absolutely not know that?

Is that the one team that moved from the States to Canada?

It is interesting that more teams didn't jump north at that time, but there was plenty of movement. The New Jersey Devils were originally the Kansas City Scouts, who became the Colorado Rockies, and in 1982 ended up settling in Jersey. There was a lot of movement of teams during that time period it seems.

True, true, very true... It was a very busy time. You had the Oakland Seals (who became the California Golden Seals) merging with the existing North Stars (I think) to make a new, improved Minnesota team. Then you had the one-year Cleveland Barons... I forgot what happened to them... Maybe they merged with California to make Minnesota? I don't know; I'm sure I'm getting it all mixed up... I'm also too lazy to look it up.

Ah, hockey history.... The greatest field of study of our time. They had some great teams back in the day: Bring back the Jets/Nordiques/Whalers! It's a bad omen that Edmonton is the only team left from the '79-'80 expansion.

Of course, we can also delve into REALLY old NHL history: the Montreal Wanderers/Maroons, Quebec Bulldogs, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Arenas/St.Pats, Edmonton Eskimos.... and, of course, the Vancouver Millionaires.

Still, it would've been nice to have the Saskatoon Blues... (and maybe the Victoria Golden Seals, Hamilton Barons, and Halifax Scouts, too! )
