  • Soham Trial - Jury considering verdict.

The jury is out, any predictions on the verdicts?

    Mine....

    Huntley

'Guilty' never to see the light of day again (and good, though he should be hanged1).

    Carr

'Not Guilty' though will be hounded out of the country and forced to live under an assumed itentity in obscure places for the rest of her life.

Nah he'll be found guilty, unless the jury are especialy guillable.

She might be aquiited though, and if she is she should be left well alone.
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

If it wasnt such a horrific case the story about the bath smacks of an episode from the Key Stone Cops or Laural & Hardy. He's a murderer theres no doubt in my mind.

Yes im not sure she is guilty maybe a bit nieve, if not guilty yes she should be left alone, I just cant see it happening though.

Him guilty. I mean seriously, if it was an accident to knck the girl in the bathtub, you would never killed the other one to keep her silent. Combine that with the rather clinical disposal instead of calling, oh say 999, and it looks like murder to me. Maybe not premeditated as such but that does not really matter.

Her I am not sure. There's no denying she has perverted the course of justice, but somehow i don't think she knew that Huntley killed the kids. In which case she is classed as not guilty wrt aiding and abetting a criminal. So what does she get? Community service maybe? She basically fell for the wrong guy, and from some of the transcripts he was an overpowering and abusive boyfriend.

Guilty, his defence is more ad hoc than King Tut!

Not sure about her, am tempted to side with guilty, but thats without emotional consideration. I'm not so bothered about her!

He's guilty. I don't know what the charge of the girl is though.

Huntley will be found guilty of murder. He'll get a recommended "whole life" sentence.

Carr will be found guilty of perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender. She'll get 6 years, including time already served. She'll be paroled in 18 months.

That's a given, seeing as he's claiming manslaughter.

So, AFAIK, the guy was convicted of some rather severe crimes before starting work at school. Were the ones responsible for this **** up found?

I'm not aware of any previous convictions. Apparently he was tried for rape, but acquitted on CCTV video evidence.

Close. Huntley - guilty, two life sentences. Tariff probably a minimum of 50 years.

Carr - Convicted on perverting the course of justice, cleared on assisting an offender. 3.5years of which she has served 18 months, will probably be released in May.

The details that have been revealed over the last day or so don't exactly instill me with confidence in the UK police system. Huntley had been accused of 4 rapes (all which he claimed were consentual) and 4 cases of under age sex as well as indecent assault on a 11 year old. All charges were dropped due to inconsistent and/or incomplete evidence, or because the girls in question would not press charges. How he got through the school vetting procedure is something that will need to be answered.
