Only way to do that is if the US guarentees that we'll back them if India tries to take advantage. And we'd also have to get in there and help in the civil war.

If we can help India and Pakistan solve Kashmir and sing a durable peace (instead of just another cease fire) then Pakistan could free up much of it's forces arrayed against India to be used against the Taliban.
