Has anyone had problems viewing the actual game (Civ3) with their Mac powerbook. I just got the game and all I can see is a black screen with sound. I have tried all refresh rates. I just installed panther - so maybe that is affecting it. Any ideas?

You really need to ask this in the civ-macintosh forum. Few of 'your kind'come to these here parts.
We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

If getting a PC game (ported to Mac) like C3 to work on a G4 powerbook isnt 'on-topic' for the mac-civ forum I dont know what is.
Sorry for the misdirection mudly1
I found one thread with some info that might help (at least it seems to mention a similar problem)

I directed him to the OT Forum because, as the question was posed in the Civ-Mac forums, it didn't appear to involve any aspect of Civ.

My friend's brand new 15" G4 Powerbook suffers from the popular "white spots" on the screen -- pools of overly bright sections due to poorly made screens.
The light sensor that controls the screen backlight brightness and keyboard backlight also sucks: it thinks that in a perfectly dark room, the light from his screen is adequate so the keyboard lighting doesn't turn on. Your guess is as good as mine for why this cannot be controlled manually.
He also has a "defective battery", as he calls it, since he's lucky if it lasts for two hours. A quick check online shows this is more or less standard fare, though.

My thoughts exactly...
I heard about this some time ago it's the publisher's fault. Perhaps it can be solved with the latest patch. The game shipped without support for some powerbook displays - they said they were going to do something about it.
Anyway, get EU2 instead - better game, by far.Only feebs vote.
