basically it's a ploy by rich people to pay more for goods to get the impression that they live a better life because they can spend more for goods and poor people can't afford this. The rich wouldn't feel very superior if some bum on the streets can afford to buy the same wine as they buy. They need some way to feel superior.
You don't think Luxery cars actually cost that much to make do you?
Rich people gladly pay more money than a product is worth just to feel superior.

When I first saw the thread, I thought that someone took your wallet and wristwatch pointing a knife to you, etc. I was relieved to see it was only a couple of beer cases.
Of course everybody here is sane enough to realise that it isn't worth sticking out your neck for that loot, right?"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."

Hey Dissident and Provost,
I'd be genuinely happier, healthier and more productive if I had more money. I'm pretty sure the same applies to you guys. I'd buy myself an expensive car but I'd do it to increase the levels of comfort, efficiency and personal safety. If you don't think there are substantial differences between the quality of wine or cars that generally correspond with the prices, you're the ones in need of a reality check.
Oh, and hi Starchild, I'm sorry for your bad experience as well as the threadjack.

BTW I thought noone bothered barging to liquer stores anymore, I thought they all went straigh for the pharmacies. At least I haven't seen any iron bars on all nighter liquer stores whereas for an aspirin it's like you have to go through koridalos (hmm that would be something like attica in the us)

BMWs or Mercs? Cheap muck
But still, Fosters? I mean, if this ever got to court, they would be laughed at for having such bad taste in alcoholic beverages. I wouldn't take Fosters, even if I didn't have to pay for it. It just isn't worth the effort of carrying...Speaking of Erith:
