  • Rugby - The Lull After The Storm

    Well, England are the champs, but 2004 is just around the corner. Will England still be the force they have been for the last 2 years? A few key players must be thinking about retirement...

    I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

          European Cup has started. Of the four French clubs involved, two have lost their matches, the Stade Toulousain plays tomorrow, and the Stade Francais has crushed a certain English team. Havak may give details. Apparently, the world champions coming back to their club hasn't been enough to help Leicester win a match this season. That's scary for them, since the Stade Francais is essentially made of players who motsly didn't play together for very long, as many among them were in the World Cup before, and in several teams (France, Italy, Argentina).

            Highly unlikely. In fact, it has fallen to me to report Leicester's results of recent times. Here we go again:

            Stade Francais 26 -d- Leicester 15

            Mmmmm. There seems to be a maximum limit to the size of the text you can post. Havak must be glad.

            Yep. The WRC still remains J****'s last victory. I can only imagine that he wants to retire with a WRC triumph as the biggest - and last - win of his career.

            Hey LDiCesares. I'd been fascinated by your "address". I wondered where in France it was. I hadn't realised you're so close to Paris. I found a website with some really nice images of the place but, for some reason, the link doesn't work when I post it here! Anyway, it looks like a very pleasant part of the world.

              "Rugby=one long lull"

              I'd totally agree, when the code is Union.

              Rugby league, on the other hand, is exciting and is a lot more interesting to play and watch. How do people think newly-promoted Salford will get on in the SuperLeague next year?

                @Park Avenue:
                I'm also a League supporter, but you're going to be about as welcome as a turd in a swimming pool for hijacking this thread. Prepare to be patronised by the old boy brigade.

                          At last the new Rugby UNION ( ) thread is here.

                          Bad news for the Stade Toulousain who lost this afternoon against Edinburgh after a very dull game from the Toulousains (to the exception of Finbar's favorite blonde player whose hairs have recovered their original black color) and once again a remarkably half blind referee who saw the fools of the french players but found it hard to spot the scottish ones.

                            BTW Neostar, now that I am finally back on the Internet with a brand new OS I will reply later to your second post about Napoléon, there are many things to write about what you said.

                              They ran the final episode last night.

                              Waterloo was a little disappointing. A few dozen computer-generated regiments in the background would have made a world of difference.

                              I won't reveal how it ended so as not to spoil the surprise for anyone who missed it.
