I've been told (i don't know if it's entirely true or not) that because of my security clearance, AWOL no longer exists for me any more . . . it's automatically desertion . . . do you know anything about this MtG?

Now I have been out for 24 years (5 feb will be 25 BIG UNS!!!) but there was a difference, between AWOL and UA (Unauthorized Absence)..IIRC, AWOL was like 6 months and UA was < 6 months..BUT..having long since cornered the market on making mistakes, I may indeed be wrong again?
