Wait people! Dont flame me yet!
What I mean by speed limits being stupid is that we dont use them properly imo. Speed limits are a must and because humans are so stupid, we need them.
So, I think that having a fixed speed limit on higways is stupid and doesn't take anything into consideration.
How come, in Canada, we have a speed limit of minimu 60kmh and a max of 100kmh on 3 to 5 lane highways that all go in the same direction with really mild curves and on single laned country roads that go up and down, right and left and where a tractor may be riding at 15kmh on the other side of a hill, the speed limit is 90kmh?!?! That doesn't make sense imo.
So it should be as follows. Speed limits in cities and suburbs stay the same. 30kmh in a school zone and 50 or 60 on boulevards. But on highways it should be according to traffic. No signs needed.
All we need is cop checking traffic. If the traffic is going at 60kmh on a highway and that a stupid sob is going at 85kmh, he deserves a ticket. Samething if we reverse it. If the traffic is going at 110, like usual, and some guy is driving at 65, give him a ticket too!! That guy is as much, if not more dangerous than the guy thats speeding.
How can a difference between 60 and 100 be safe on a highway? I say if everyone is driving at 130 and a guy drives at 80 or 150, he deserves a ticket.
Stats show that we, in north america, have more accidents than in Germany where they have no speed limits for the simple fact that people dont fall asleep at the wheel because they are more concentrated when driving fast.
It's all about driving responsibly.
What do you all think?
Spec. (of course)
