Right. That's why I would send perhaps two of everything to Mars first, and then, and only then send a manned mission. If we were not going to send the return fuel with the manned mission, I think we would send two refuelling modules into orbit around Mars so that if one were to fail, we could access the other. I hardly think we could send landers to the Martian surface large enough to blast off, back into space, with 107 tons of fuel.

yes, lets litter mars with Junk as we do earth (and it's orbit)

If we send all of our useful elements to mars, we will run out of useful elements here on earth.

              • Humans are kind of a virus that infect healthy cells (planets) of an organism (universe): they use that particular cell to multiply themselves; once their numbers go above certain threshold, they would seek out new cells to infect.

ahh but you seem to not realize how potent the immune system of the universe is once you venture from the safety of one small protected portion of the body.

A successful virus knows how to beat the immune system.

Don't you think this analogy is going a bit far?

I agree. We should exterminate every cell of this virus, one by one. You start.

                            • Quote from cnn.com's coverage of the same story:

"You've got the Chinese saying they're interested -- we don't want them to beat us to the moon. We want to be there to develop the sweet spots," Republican Senator Sam Brownback says.
That's good, Senator. Wonder what the poor members of your constituency who need more social services have to say about that?

Since you first proposed to exterminate humans, how about you begin with yourself? Would you sign an agreement to turn over all your net asset to me and then commit suicide?
