I'd like to point out that most of the causualties the coalition has suffered have come from Aircraft crashes or attacks upon non military vehicles. The Ba'athists seem to be shifting more and more away from military targets, who can fire back, and are instead focusing on Iraqi civilians and unarmed foreigners working in Iraq. People like the Japanese diplomat who was killed today or the Korean construction crew or the Columbian contractor.

When the dust settles, it will probably be more like 5 Iraqi "banditos" KIA, and 41 innocent "liberated" civilians killed in the crossfire. Reports are already coming in about civilians killed by the crossfire as they were leaving work.

A couple of weeks ago, the BBC had video of a street fight. The US troops can be seen driving down a street filled with shops and started blasting away. Civilians were left dead and wounded.

Or it "probably" won't be anything like that, at which point you won't be around for discussion

Oh! How horrible the Americans defend themselves with returned fire! The whole firefight can now be blamed on their side. Oh wait, they weren't doing the ambushing. Oh, wait still - they invaded the country; therefore any loony toons despot militia has moral right to start the fight and then place blame for casualties on allied forces

Yeah. Just like you said. US troops driving down the street and then they just a start blastin' away, obviously right at the civilians. Good for you, get out of my country now.

The BBC is reporting only two civilians were wounded in the cross fire.

BTW the BBC is reporting that most of the attacks seem to be coming from Saddam loyalists but most of the suicide bombing occuring in Iraq seem to be the work of foreign Islamic extremists. So far the coalition has captured and detained 307 foreign fighters (mostly Saudis, Syrians, and Iranians but there are some from just about every muslim country) including 20 members of Al Qaeda.

In other news South Korea has agreed to send 3,000 troops to Iraq in order to help restore order to the country. That means South Korea will have about as many soldiers as Italy or Spain does though fewer then Britain, Poland, or the Netherlands.

It's to bad the Kurds are so opposed to Turkey because it would have really helped to have those 12,000 Turkish troops.

They have their reasons of course. But to a large extend they are also used as a justification for Turkey's troops not to go since the people of Turkey themselves are very opposed to it. I have to say I'm surprised that the military didn't just force it through. Maybe Turkey is indeed taking small leaps to a fuller democracy.
