  • I lost my heart in.....

What country, city, or town have you visited/lived in and absolutely fallen in love with the place? Why?

    Toronto

For five years, I lived outside of this city and took every chance I could to go to it. The shopping, the trendiness, the unthinking acceptance of diversity, and so much more made me love it. A safe, clean city that has whatever you're looking for. Including the CN tower, which is just damn impressive. The little neighbourhoods that spill out into each other, each distinctive yet part of the greater city itself. Greekville, Chinatown, Little India. The feeling that, forget the rest of Canada, this is where it's all happening. SARSstock alone would have made me love the place. 500,000 people crowded into one place and everyone being smiley and happy. I made some friends in Toronto that I'll never forget.

(We'll ignore the fact that it's a magnet for tropical diseases)

    Edinburgh

A three day trip with friends with only 1.5 days actually spent in the city but still, I wanna live here. It's beautiful. So much in fact that it takes your breath away. That and the cold. Proper winters, not the rain drenched grey I get in England! So many green spaces and rocky hills that the city feels less built up than it actually is. The wonderful eclectic mix of sushi bars and Italian coffee shops next to each other, sharing the same 19th century Scottish building. Damn fine shopping. Damn fine pubs.

Hell, I'd move up there just for café Chocolate Soup.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

Toronto?!? I hate that city...I really hate that city. Poeple are snotty, bad tempered, really not welcoming, the city is ugly and badly managed.

    I hate Toronto.

I loved Strasbourg in France, I loved swizerland all around. I also loved Cancun.

My next stop is Japan for sure. I cant wait.

San Francisco is probably my favorite US city, so far anyway.

The village I grew up in. Despite being only a few miles off the highway outside of guelph, it remains a small village of only a few hundred. Lots of hiking trails, hills to climb, and forests to explore, and the main street goes over an island in between two rivers. Great place to grow up as a kid. There was also an anual writers festival which basically turned the village into a giant party, with several times it's own population coming to listen to poetry and story readings.

It's been a while since I've been there, though... But I've been told that the urban sprawl has yet to reach it.

          Prague

I absolutely worship Prague. Ever since I first visited it, I have been obsessed with it. Fortunately for me, I always have to stop at Prague in order to fly to visit my family.

The city is just so impossibly beautiful, and so ancient that it's hard to really think of specific reasons for why I love the city. I just felt, after the first few days I was there, that this was the place I've always wanted to be. Everyone should walk across Karlovi Most in the evening at least once in their lifetime. It's a scene of unforgetable beauty.

I'm picking Atlanta. Some parts of London and Paris are nice as well.

                Adelaide: Fantastic. enough said

Copenhagen: Wonderful Copenhagen. Probalby the nicest European capital city.

Malta: crowded and dirty, but still very charming. The whole island oozes of history.

San Francisco - where I used to live.

Shanghai - where I live now.

                    Two magnificent cities.

It's a nice town to visit, but damn does it cost a lot... I want out!!!!

My Favorite town? -> San Antonio

Clean, fun, plenty of bars, Texans, and hot chicks...

                      Oh!

Hot Chicks, you can't beat Vancuver... Here we don't have full nudity strip clubs either, but there...ahhh

I guess I'd have to go with those two so far. My father-in-law loves Savanah, and we both seem to like the same places; Moro Bay and San Diego at that.

Though, my wife wants to move to Charolite Amile... But, hey, who wouldn't...

                      Good Question.

Someone in San Francisco saying San Antonio is their favorite town.

Meanwhile, someone in San Antonio(me) was about to say that San Francisco was one of his favorite towns.

                        Go figure.
