If you aren't running any programs that attempt to connect to the net at random times, then chances are you don't want whatever it is to succeed in connecting to the net.
That's what I was wondering, if it could be some sort of spyware. I have a rather old virus program that may not detect some of the stuff out there. As I mentioned, I'm not having any operational problems. I started to receive the message shortly after deleting unopened a bunch of spam e-mail, but haven't seen the message for about an hour now...

You can get the AVG anti-virus personal edition for free if you are so included. A lot of slimeware stuff aren't caught by scanners, though. You need ad-aware and spybot search-and-destroy for those.

You could also use bit torrent online virus scan and BPS spyware remover, both are very fast and industrial strength.

A 'DLL' is a Dynamic Link Library. Besides the memory advantages, it's easier to update a DLL rather than a whole executable. It should be in your Windows\System folder. It's in mine and probably everyone else's around here (except for the Linux geeks. )

How come it's always, "Computor Geek Needed", and never, "Computer Geek Wanted"?

I've been online for about an hour today and the message hasn't appeared. I wonder if the message could have been generated by a piece of pop up advertising here at Apolyton.

Since I use an older system, I'm frequently offered upgrades and downloads as I surf. This request was rather aggressive though.

So... should my header have been "Computer Technical Expertise Needed"?
