  • Computer Help : I lost a few gigabytes

    Drive D :
    Disk properties say :
    Capacity 9.58GB
    Free Space 1.67GB

When I add up the space all folders(including hidden ones) take, I get only about 5.5GB, ~2.5GB less than it should be.

    Drive C :
    Disk properties say :
    Capacity 9.58GB
    Free Space 3.5GB

Adding up everything gives me only 3.5GB, 2.58GB less that it should be.

What happened to almost 5GB of space?!

Have you defragmented the drives? It may help some.

Also, check for the existance of many / large invisible files.

And do check bad sectors adn defragment.

Yes, it's called the Zionist Brotherhood.

We are actually transmitting coded messages for the next assassination of a palestinian terrorist leader

Ok, so I used this TreeSize program someone reccomended me on CFC and it says that on drive D I have 2079.9MB in some Recycled, Nprotect thingies, and 1259.7MB of the same thing on E.

On C I have 1.7GB in System Volume Information, whatever that is.

So how do I get read of these stuff?

Do you use Norton or a similar program? If so, a lot of the stuff you deleted before are not gone. You need to actually erase them.

                        That's what nprotect is, AFAIK.

I used to have that problem too. I'm not exactly sure why my exlporer showed my space wrong.

I ran nortons disk doctor or some crap like that, and that was the only program that really spanked windows around and corrected the error.

FWIW, I had to reinstall WinXP a while ago... Could these stuff be remnants of the old installation?
