  • How do you deal with failure?

I'm a relaxed guy and I don't take too much stress about things.. I'd only die younger if I did.

Aanyway, how do you deal with failure? I was at exam today, and I pretty much sucked bad at it. It was moderately important one, I can take it again soon and I will but.. still I feel like I think of it way too much.
You know? like DAMN! *punch the walls* *kill innocent animals* CRAP!! *shout to friends* *destroy something that is yours then get even more mad because you broke it, and smash it good*.. you know? How do you deal with failure? It's not comforting that I can re-take it and make it better. I already screwed once, so that's bad, I didn't handle the area so well...

    well .. I have a solution. Beer.

But how do you deal with personal failure? Do you beat up old people? Do you take drugs? Do you get drunk?

I've heard of this "failure" concept, but I'm not sure I fully understand it.

I never drink or smoke to reason with my head... I do that stuff to calm it down.

I got out of HS with pretty much straight As and took advance courses. When I got to college, I found Cs hard to pull. I have failed my share of tests, courses, and life lessons. Yet, I learned that the feeling I get IS a bad feeling, doesn't mean that it is a wrong feeling only that I don't want to ever have it again. So failure makes me try harder, manage my time better, and pay more important to the things that matter to me.

In college partys were sometime more important and that meant failing a test. Oh, well. Yet, after a while I got tired of being in school and trying to stay one point ahead of the pass/fail curve. So, I started a strict study regiment over my last 2 years. Ended up graduating and now have a good job.

How to deal with failure? Learn from it. Not, learn how not to fail or succeed, but learn more about yourself and what is it about yourself that caused you to fail... Heck, you could of easily succeeded.

I kinda do the buddhist thing and don't expect too much.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

Japher, yeah.. I have a plan, I want to come to transfer to US for a year or two to study, and I was planning on keeping straight A's, to be the best you know. At least the best in that school.. to have the best opportunity to do that. Now I failed the straight A score horribly. I won't get A after re-take either.. It'll take hell to get even a B.
I admit it was difficult test, it wasn't easy even in normal standards, but damn I HATE LOSING!

It seems like I'm horrible at losing. I just can't take it so good. So that's why I'm asking how everyone deals with it, since I suck at it.

alva, I know what you mean. I just can't do that. You know, some people think 'I score X amount of points and I'm happy.. everything extra is bonus'. I think 'I can lose 2 points from maximum, and if it's more, I need to kill someone'. .. can't help it!

Failure, rejection, defeat. The things I find hardest to deal with, the things I find hard to avoid. Both of these can raise anger and wrath in me so strong that I could kill. I don't know why. Yet this aversion to these can actually lead you to greater suffering at their hands. My answer? Christ knows...

I've figured it out - all I have to do is get rid of my conscience. If I don't have to feel bad about stuff, then I can kill people or beat up on my kids or destroy property or become a personal injury lawyer and I can make a ton of money and never, ever feel bad about what I had to do to get there. You're never a failure if you don't feel bad about it! Who needs morals if you've got money.

Clorox is great for getting bloodstains out. If you have to kill someone, make sure it's an unappreciated minority - if you're in California, kill a Mexican, if you're in Florida, kill a Cuban, DC - black - you get the picture.

Just don't kill whitey, cuz those guys will hunt you down and eat you. They've got unions, gas chambers, and the media.

You're kidding, right? Every thread you start is about some angst caused by people or situations you were involved with that day.

Stuie, true. But I usually tell everything that's bothering me as well, I speak my mind out. Many times it's little things, things that shouldn't be even posted. I have nothing that bothers me outside these. You know them all I guess. I'm relax and laid back.. DAMN YOU BELIEVE ME!

And it's the fall.. gets me down every year. But soon it's winter and snow, so it's better then.
