You beat me to it with this post!!

You use $100's too? I think they produce a much better flame for lighting a cigar than a fifty.

    Where have you been?

      Ooh, personal testimonies! Let's see...

I work intimately in human resources as a career, and I can safely say that we've seen no decline in the number of able white males who are being hired at major corporations. Speculation that there is rampant discrimination against white men across corporations is simply that--speculation. Have any statistical evidence for your claims? White men still enjoy a strong advantage in employment, wages, etc., even in low end jobs. Men get paid more than women for the same jobs. They get paid more than minorities.

I'm as white as they come, Mr. whitey white, and I was offered several full scholarships to college. Not to ivy league schools, no--but schools that provide great educations nonetheless. I can't recall ever being discriminated against for being white except in a very few cases relating to sex (balanced by the overwhelmingly "superior" status of white guys among gays).

I certainly abhor discrimination of any kind, but I find the whinging that white men are somehow now the most oppressed group to be sickening. What it is, IMO, is white guys being upset at losing a priviledged position than anything else.

Oh, about. I've not been to the OT because of the time drain and simple redundancy of it all. But I was killing time tonight waiting for a phone call (brother's been in an accident and hospitalized--but he's ok).

Glad he's okay. It does get a little redundant, but I've branched out a little into the Civ-3 Stories form. (actually some pretty good writers there.) That, C3C coming out, and the occasional really good laugh keep me addicted. Come around more often...I miss your insight.

Probably won't happen. I'm consigning myself to the Conquests forum almost exclusively, and only just to determine whether or not I'll get it.

              Cheers!

quite a lot of stereotyping but let's create a hypothetical, typical white male... Joe Romano, an italian-descended white man from one of the blue collar italian/puerto rican/irish quarters of south philly. he lives in the same conditions as his neighbour, Hector Martinez. their families are of similiar background. hell, they look the same and on the street, people see Romano as hispanic as much as they see Martinez as hispanic.

is Hector suffering from racism that Joe is not? Does Hector live any wore than Joe? Does Joe have more privilige in the world than Hector?

Statistical? Any statistics on this are biased, besides my own experience I can call upon the experiences of 20 other people I know easily.

I'm not even caucasian ironically, im an Ethiopian Jew-but I look caucassian lol(half polish).

I got it. It has a few interesting differences. Corruption levels are taking a little figuring out. So far, I can't tell to many major differences from PTW in the regular game. Haven't messed with the editor yet or multiplayer so can't help there.

When poor and middle class white folks wake up to the fact that "reverse discrimination" is a red herring. When poor and middle class minorities wake up to the fact they have a common cause with their white counterparts.

The rich love seeing poor and middle class blacks and whites fighting for the table scraps. It makes everyone ignore how much the super-rich are hauling in.

Instead of saying "How come that black person gets a scholarship and I don't", the real question is: "How come there are not enough scholarships for everyone who needs it?"

But the politicians and the rich would prefer racial infighting among the poor and the middle class.

In the 19th century, the populist movement was immensely popular among the lower middle class and poor. When election time came around, though, poor whites refused to vote populist though they otherwise were all for the populist agenda. Why? because the populists supported black rights.

****ed up **** that we're still dealing with this today. racial division must stop if we are to progress as americans.

And I can provide you with 100 testimonials of white guys who've had nothing but a breeze. I can also provide you with dozens of testimonials of minorities who are still discriminated against.

                            Bull**** it isn't:

We have unearthed plenty of examples of corporate wrongdoing but sadly we can't find this page. Perhaps you can check your links and try again? Image

The U.S. Census Bureau reported that across all industries, women only make 75% of what their male peers make. Has the gap narrowed? In some respects, but it isn't remotely closed, and it has widened in some fields.

                            As a whole, yes.

Find data on the wage gap, the unequal earnings ratio between white men and women and white men and womena and men of color.

And it's funny you're demanding statistics of me when you've provided none. You claim they will all be biased--sounds like you're talking out of your posterior.

Testimonies of people is proof of nothing in terms of trends, this is basic knowledge. You need statistical support, not anecdotal. I can give you anecdotes that say anything. People can make up and/or exaggerate anecdotes.

"I didn't get the job because I'm white and they discriminate against whites!"

I wonder how many people say this enough so that they believe it? People get rejected from jobs all the time, and they like to think the worst of the reasons for it to make themselves feel better.

"and I was offered several full scholarships to college."

                            How long ago?
9 years ago, hardly coming prior to any watershed changes.

They are the only group you can legally descriminate against so.....
Which shows you're ignorant of reality. Find out more about legal discrimination, particularly among private entities. You'll find that you can legally discriminate against almost anyone. In New York state, where I work, you can fire someone on almost any grounds you like. Private companies can be 100% white, if they want. It ain't good PR, but it ain't illegal, either.

Now, hiring is a a little different, as there are laws about discrimination. But legally, whites are treated the same as everyone else. Nowhere does any law about discrimination make an exception for whites.

As a homosexual, I find that claim hysterical, since in all but a handful of states it's perfectly legal to discriminate against gays for housing, employment, etc.

                            Try again.

A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
