Science VS religion comes up on Apolyton alot, so I'd like to voice my pet peeve......
Stop saying "religion" when you mean "Christianity"-different religions have different views on the conflict........ Other religions have very different views on the nature of the world and the nature of God, and the conflict of Science and Theology. Since im not a Budhist or a Muslim or a Daoist or a Wiccan, it's obvious I'm going to give a different view.
Since im Jewish, yes I am giving the Jewish view.
The Book of Solomon is not in the Torah, but it is a widley accepted piece of scripture. It gives a message common throughout Judaism's history and can be found from hundreds of Jewish theologans.
Heres what it says:
God is too great for us to understand, right?
Since God is beyond us, how can we come to know him?
Since we cant understand him DIRECTLY, we can only understand him indirectly, through what he has made or does. I.e. the universe.
THUS wisdom is the most desirable attribute any person can have, because through wisdom one can understand the nature of the universe, and thus come as close as possible to understanding God.
I see no conflict of science and religion-Regardless of my current religious views, I have never, even when I was very young, seen any conflict between the 2.
