I'm going to say yes, and hope the placebo effect helps you.

motrin's just ibuprofen. i think it's mostly for pain, not fever.

anything with acetominophen i know will deal with fever. tylenol, excedrine...

ibuprofen will help reduce a fever. aspirin, acetopminophen, and ibuprofen are all analgesics. reduce pain, swelling and fever.

Fever is a defense mechanism against prokaryotic infections but that doesnt mean it cant harm us too.

My 6 month old had a fever last night ( along with an ear infection) and according to our public health line, both ibuprofen or acetominaphen will bring down a fever. Either will reduce the fever by up to 2 degrees Centigrade but will not completely eliminate a fever. According to the nurse on the line, ibuprofen usually works a little better and for a little longer

Since the fever may be a necessary part of your body fighting infection, you treat the fever merely for the person's comfort unless the fever gets very high. IIRC they said 40.5 was the trigger before they started to get concerned.

We tried tylenol on our little guy and when he stayed at 39+ , we gave him the ibuprofen which seems to have reduced the fever and let him sleep.
