      Iron is a problem. There's such a world glut of it that even the US, "bastion of free trade", has to subsidise it's producers.

      Personally, I'd be very careful about bringing the oil onstream. Tourism, while less lucrative, is less destructive and more long term. It's also more labour intensive (which is maybe what you don't need with 3 million people)...

        who cares about birth control if we irradiate everyone?

        i still say antarctica. i'm sure there are plenty of resources there we haven't found yet.
