As regards to India, we somewhat screwed ourselves by denying them enough visas and green cards to supply demand. As a result, business simply move jobs to India.
Take your production to China - it's a whole lot cheaper.
Or bomb something - there's nothing like free advertising!
I wish I could start a trade union like the dockworkers' union - that's more of a legacy than a union. I mean, does anyone actually know someone who joined who wasn't already related to someone in the union? Getting a job as a dockworker is like an urban legend - "I knew a guy who has a sister who was dating this guy who got a job as a dockworker..."
Soon, nothing will actualy br produced in America. We wil all be working 8am to 10pm selling each other chintzy mall crap. Republicans will be having 24/7 orgasms.

I see that the US will lose lot of customer service jobs that do not require person to person contact, also with the new do not call list that just went into effect, telemarketers will lose a lot of jobs. Also jobs that can be automated will be lost.
I see health care, high tect (mostly places that make video games), and I heard social services will get a lot of jobs.

This is mostly programming. No reason for this to stay in the U.S. when you can hire four or more Indian programmers to try and do the same thing. We still have an edge up on the quality of our programming, but not forever. Also, the corruption problem in India will also help us for a while.

Well India is pumping out a lot of programmers. Most of companies manage to bring them here to the United States. BUt yeah that is a problem. I dont like it too much since that is the field I plan on going into.
BUt I have back up plans. One I can become a math or computer science teacher, since they need lots of teachers or be a computer tech for a company. Not all tech jobs can be shiped out of the country when a company needs people there in person to help their staff.

I hear they're hiring at BurgerKing. But this reminds me of a job I had in Salt Lake City several years ago. I was in charge of a crew (3 or 4 people) that was supposed to clean and service Delta flights. The kids that I supervised were great fun to work with and I kind of miss the job even though we made just above minimum wage. As long as I could keep the kids from the wine we did pretty good. We used to have races in the trucks after we serviced a plane but Delta kinda frowned on that.

The UK producing very little of worth in terms of primary and secondary industries. They don't work 8-22 selling chintzy crap, although Maggie was seen to crack a wry maniacal smile. Focus on quarternary and tertiary industries, its the only way if you can't compete on manufacturing or agriculture.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.
we will be a true imprtial nation (dependent on the wealth of other nations)

Businesses locate jobs and factories so as to minimize costs and maximize profits. To the extent that jobs are flowing out of United States and into the Third World, the primary, if not the sole reason for this is cost. The cost of the worker for example includes not only his labor rates but his payroll taxes and in his health insurance. It also includes whether the employee belongs to a strong Union which is prone to strike and/or impose unreasonable demands.
The cost of a factory includes the cost of the land, taxes, environmental laws and the cost of employees. Taxes include not only real estate taxes, but also income taxes.
Because of environmental laws primarily, polluting Manufacturing has been moving out of United States for 40 years.
Because of income taxes, offshore manufacturing is preferred when a product is sold worldwide. Offshore manufacturing is also preferred for components that are shipped the United States and assembled from in United States into computers and the like.
Because of Unions, jobs are moving to countries, such as China, where unions have no power.
Many countries offer tax holidays to incent businesses to locate their factories there. This practice ended three decades ago in the United States. No amount of local tax holidays could overcome the high-costs impose by income taxes, payroll taxes and environmental laws.
To the extent that United States wants these jobs back, the United States itself must be more competitive in all areas. Particular attention should be paid the corporate income taxes, the environmental laws, payroll taxes, the strength of unions and the minimum wage laws.
Or, you can follow the advice of our Democrat candidates and ignore the financial considerations that are the cause of the job loss phenomena and impose protectionism on United States that just may bring on a global depression.
