From "A Man for All Seasons" - I'm transcribing this starting at 49 mintues 13 seconds
Sir Thomas Moore is the Chancellor of England at this point, the second most powerful man in England, and could easily order anyone's arrest except the King. The young man who will eventually betray him, and perjure himself at Moore's trial, condemning him to death, is leaving. Even at this point in the film, he's a little weasel.
Wife: Arrest him.
Moore: For What.
Wife: He's dangerous.
Roper (future son-in-law): (garbled)Lord, he's a spy.
Daughter: Father, that man is bad.
Moore: There is no law against that.
Roper: There is, God's law
Moore: Then God can arrest him.
Wife: While you talk, he's gone.
Moore: And go he should, were he the devil himself, until he broke the law.
Roper: So, now you give the devil the benefit of law.
Moore: Yes, what would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get to the devil.
Roper: Yes. I'd cut down every law in England to do that. Moore: Oh, and when the last law was down and devil turned round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat. This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, man's laws not god's and if you cut them down, and you're just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the wind that would blow then? Yes I'd give the devil benefit of the law for my own safety's sake.
I wonder if anyone in the Bush adminstration has even seen the play, let alone the movie. I guess that's what you get when your President says:
And to the C students, I say: You, too, can be president of the United States.
Maybe I should foward it to John Ashcroft. I can just hear the response. "But that's different..."

And on the eigth day, God realized it was Monday, and created caffeine. And behold, it was very good. - self-quoted Klaatu: I'm impatient with stupidity. My people have learned to live without it.
Mr. Harley: I'm afraid my people haven't. I'm very sorry… I wish it were otherwise.
He was already wanted in syria for draft doging, I suspect that is what they officially imprisoned him for.

We'll have to wait to find out the whole truth on this incident. Anyway, I expect we will not have what is left of our civil liberties much longer when this war returns to the States. People seem to prefer security to liberty so it is only a matter of time before we are safe in our little cages that we have made for ourselves.

Hmm....I wonder if someone logged into Lincolns account and posted this?
