Regarding translation: understood. I hope the recent translations of the Bible are as accurate wrt Greek as you depict. I assume King James didn't have the same worry for accuracy at his time, so I suppose modern translations are favored by fundies who don't speak Greek.
Regarding the Law: your arguments make sense, even though the first one sure is scary (the second one rocks though)
For the gospels where the laws I cited come, try Deuteronomy 22:23-24 (Deuteronomy in general is an insult to any religion in itself
), and Ezekiel 13:20 for the pillow thing.
