  • Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants!

Anybody else watch this? Sophie just adores it, and her mother and I find it pretty funny as well*. My favorite characters are Plankton, Mermaidman, the pirate ghost Davey Jones, and Patrick (I do a pretty good Patrick imitation as well).

The episode where Plankton actually gets control of the Krusty Krab is just as funny the 10th time as it was the 1st. Hell, all the episodes with Plankton are funny, especially his version of the Fun Song:

Plankton: F is for fire that burns down the whole town, U is for uranium… bombs! N is for no survivors, when you…

Spongebob: Plankton! Those things aren’t what fun is all about! Now, do it like this! [starts to dance] F is for friends who do stuff-

Plankton: [cutting him off] Nonsense! That’s completely idiotic!

The animation is top notch and is perfect for the setting, and the stories are just zany as hell. Check it out.

*Given the typical insipidness of childrens television, we are proud that Sophie actually picked up on something that is entertaining to adults as well.

Hmmm. Good show but not my favourite. It's not as fun as the Powerpuff Girls. Which in turn is a pale comparison to the best of cartoons-with-injokes-for-adults such as Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs. Sigh. My lost youth.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

If you liked the feel of the old Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck cartoons (especially the wild ones), you'll be at home with SBSP. Patrick is nothing but that dumb buzzard given a starring role.

I watched it once and liked it. Much better than Teletubbies (which scares me) and Barny (who pissses me off)...

I don't have cable so I can't watch much. I generally watch cartoons for bigger kids because Blue's Clues doesn't captivate me. Kim Possible and The Proud Family are my Favs right now.

Got a DVD player? At least 3 discs are out with 10 episodes a piece. Might want to see if you can scrounge up one at the local video store.

My daughter watches Caliou all the time... how gay.

I much rather her watch PowerPuff Girls, Teen Titans and X-Men.

These are her top four shows.

She used to like Barney, but thinks "he's stupid now" Good girl.
                  Haven't been here for ages....

My friend Sarah thinks this show is fantastic. She even has a little Spongebob Squarepants figure in her car.

Yes, you've guessed it. She's 19 years old.

Paul: It's been cool for adults to watch cartoons again for years now

SBSP isn't exactly my favorite, though... those would be Courage the Cowardly Dog and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy

Sure, I just thought she could have picked a better one, that's all.

Not as funny as when they steal a balloon on free baloon day, or when Spongebob is the new Michaelangelo

Again? Wouldn't that require *stopping* at some point?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
