    On my next system, I think I'll run some sort of Linux.

    Yep. I think it's a done deal. I wanted to buy WinXP, but the costs are ****ing mind-boggling. Therefore, my next system will run Linux.

    It is a very confusing and troublesome thought for me, because all my knowledge in the area is hype and rumors.

    I'll probably buy a system in a number of months. THEN, I'LL INSTALL LINUX... What then? what shall I do? WHAT IS IT?

                Azazel, Depends what you install.. For example if you decide to install the latest Red Hat with Window X, it looks a lot like windows OS...

                  From sceens, it seems similar to Windows. The real question is: Is it ?

                      does Linux run the same software as Windows?

                        Well, it depends.. some programs are translated to work in Linux as well.. many programs these days.
