I think the Victorians had it right. The woman goes into the other room with the doctor and the midwife while the man sits in the other room with his friend smoking cigars and drinking brandy. After the child is born he walks into the other room, huges his wife, pats the child on the head, then goes back into the other room to have another brandy.Originally posted by germanos
